Orb Debate

An Orb Debate

What is a Orb?

The vast majority of orbs are nothing more than dust, bugs, moisture, pollen and the like, “But in my years of paranormal research investigating, I have found a small percentage of orbs to be unexplainable. These orbs are self-illuminating and show up in pics that coincide with other paranormal activity at the same time, things like temperature drops. Some of these we will call “intelligent orbs,” continuing, “in most cases when we ask them to follow us around they do interact and appear in multiple pics. In these cases, you will usually see the same orb formations throughout the investigation. It should also be noted that “orbs” were actually quite rare before digital cameras became common. In the early days of low-cost, cheap digital cameras they exploded on the scene. Before that Rare but not Nonexistent. An orb is a solid or transparent “ball” of energy or light.  Some parapsychologists believe that orbs are spirits, or lingering energy from deceased entities. No one truly knows what orbs are.  Orbs can appear in many different shapes and colors, with white orbs being the most common. In my opinion, witnessing orbs with your own eyes (in person) is far more credible, and harder to debunk than a mere photo of orbs.

As our equipment becomes more high-tech, we will see them not just as energy formations but in more detail, which has already started to happen in some cases. Always keep an open-mind on the topic of orbs. “I used to look at orbs as just dust or moisture, but I have seen  video of them responding to command’s from a person. They told them to go to the right, to the left, and to leave the room. They did, so I try to keep a open mind with this type of energy. I call them ‘intelligent energy’ and it takes a lot of them to come together to from a ghost.

“For a still camera, the orb is usually caused by the flash. The light bounces off the bug, dust or water particles in the air making them look like glowing balls of light. I have never been a fan of orbs caught on a digital camera. I am a an orb skeptic, but  I will leave the door open a crack. “95% of the time they can be easily explained as particulates in the air, i.e. – dust, bugs, moisture, etc.” “A few things to consider, if they are a true self sustaining spirit orb, why do they only show up in pictures where a flash is used or where it is brightly lit, and reflective surfaces can be seen bouncing light back at the camera causing lens flare? Possible yes,  very plausible and logical……..

What about color? There are several different theories that may explain the color differences in orbs…a black orb is interesting development of it’s own a blob like orb that moves very fast bouncing off everything.

Theory #1 – Color difference in orbs is caused by “chromatic distortion” which is a fancy way of saying that our eyes perceive different wavelengths and shapes as varying colors.  If a particle happens to be of a certain makeup or shape, it will tend to absorb certain wavelengths of light and reflect others, thus giving the perception of a certain color.

Theory # 2 – Orb color difference is caused by the energy of the spirit who is represented by the orb.  For example, some paranormal investigators believe that red and orange orbs represent a spirit who is angry or in need of healing.  Other claim that red is a color associated with an energy that seems to be on guard duty. Some believe a red orb should be considered negative or harmful.  There is no evidence to suggest that red orbs are harmful or more negative than white orbs.  The color difference may simply be a reflection of the spirit’s energy at the time of his death—or the color may be caused by the shape/frequency of of the orb.

Theory#3- Some Psychics believe that it does seem that there is a conscious mind behind the orbs. By looking more closely into the spirit orbs sometimes there does appear to be faces and some type of intelligence to them. Others believe orbs to be doorways but has yet to be proved that this is spirit, dimensional or something else unknown at the present time.

So, should we discount all “orb” photos? No, I don’t think that we should. I do believe that there are genuine, paranormal images that appear and which are sometimes captured in photos. These visible lights are a common phenomenon but whether or not they signal the presence of ghosts is still open to debate.  What do you think?

However… “With all that said, I believe that there is the occasional ‘orb’ anomaly that defies logic and seems to only appear when called upon and has a look distinct energy of it’s own or a unique pattern within it. Regardless, I believe they are something paranormal in nature and we should continue to study them, as we have done for some time now. As always keep an open mind when dealing with all evidence of paranormal phenomenas even orbs until all is evaluated.

Real or Fake?: UFO Over Japan

I found these videos while making my way around this morning and as always I had to look a little deeper into them. Below is what I found and I want to know from you if they are real or fakes.

This video was uploaded by  on Jan 4, 2012

Oddly enough this video was uploaded by the same individual a couple of months later.

If you have read the prior Real or Fake articles then you know I am pretty skeptical about every video I offer. This would be no exception. I found out about this video from Gather.com who had mockingly titled their story ‘Bigfoot Style’ video. The author continues to explain the video hasn’t much credibility yet tells his readers that the objects movements are ‘mystifying’.

I’m not mystified, are you? Actually I am a bit put off that I had to watch all 20 seconds to find out that the uploader had a very similar Japan video posted in January. Amazingly the January video appeared in the Youtube suggestions at the end of the March video. I know what you are thinking. That I must be the greatest investigative journalist you have ever read. Stop it, I’m blushing.

I believe these videos are faked or is something that happens on a regular basis that is explainable (like balloons signaling a hot sale at a car dealership). The standard red flags apply to these videos.

  • There is no comment made by the uploader.
  • There is a very similar video previously uploaded with no comment.
  • The quality is as the Gather.com article suggested “Bigfoot style’.
  • Although the objects don’t seem to disappear the videos are only a few seconds in duration. Allowing for nerves in the first video, if I am filming a second sighting, I am certainly going to film the entire event.

Are these videos real or fake? Let us know by commenting.
